Kansas City, MO · Design-Build Remodeling
Design-build remodeling for Kansas City homes — one team from first sketch to final walkthrough.
Design-build under one roof · Fixed-price proposal before we swing a hammer.
Cornerstone is a design-build remodeler for the Kansas City metro. One team designs it, prices it honestly, pulls the permits, and builds it — so a kitchen, a primary bath, or a whole-home renovation runs on a real schedule instead of turning your house into a construction site with no end date.

What we remodel
Design and construction under one contract. Pick a room to see how we approach it — and the projects we’ve done like it.
From a dated galley to an open, working kitchen — cabinets, counters, layout changes, and the wiring and plumbing behind them, designed and built by one team.

The reason remodels turn into horror stories is a broken hand-off: you hire a designer, then a separate contractor bids the drawings, then nobody owns the number or the schedule. Design-build fixes that — the people who design your project are the people who price it and build it. Here’s exactly what to expect, and roughly how long each step takes.
We come to your home, look at the space, and talk through what you actually want to change and roughly what you want to spend. You leave with an honest budget range — before anyone asks you to sign anything.
Our designer develops the plan, 3D layouts, and material selections with you — cabinets, tile, counters, fixtures — until the drawings match the way you live. You approve a fixed-price proposal with no surprises baked in.
We pull the permits, order long-lead materials, and build the real schedule. A pre-construction walkthrough sets expectations: where the crew parks, how we protect your floors, and which days matter.
One lead carpenter runs your job start to finish and you get a weekly schedule update. We dust-wall the work zone, protect the paths, and clean up every day — you keep living in the house.
We walk the finished project with you, build a punch list of anything that isn’t perfect, and close it out fast. Nothing is “done” until you agree it’s done.
You get a written workmanship warranty and a real number to call. Settling, a sticky drawer, a caulk line — we come back and make it right.
Financing
A kitchen or a primary-suite remodel is a $40k–$150k+ decision, and most homeowners would rather keep their savings working than write one big check. Qualified homeowners finance the project with fixed monthly payments through our lending partner — apply in minutes, and we’ll frame the design to a monthly number that actually fits, not just a total.
The team
Owner & Lead Designer
Class A General Contractor · 21 years in design-build
Daniel started Cornerstone after two decades of watching remodels go sideways at the hand-off between the designer and the builder. His whole model is design-build under one roof: the person who dreams up your project is the person who prices it and stands behind the number. He still runs the first consultation on most projects himself — and he’d rather talk you out of a bad idea than sell you a good-looking mistake.
Design Director
Kitchen & bath designer · 14 years · selections lead
Sara runs the design studio and the selections process — the part where a remodel either comes together or falls apart. She’s the one who turns a Pinterest board and a budget into drawings you can actually build, and who keeps cabinets, tile, and counters arriving in the right order so the schedule holds. Homeowners tend to describe her as the person who finally made the decisions feel manageable.
Production Manager & Lead Carpenter
Lead carpenter · 18 years on the tools
Marcus runs the crews and the job sites, which means he’s the reason a Cornerstone project stays clean, on schedule, and communicative. He assigns one lead carpenter to own your job start to finish — the same face every day — and he’s a stickler about dust walls, floor protection, and cleaning up before the crew leaves. It’s your house, and he treats it like it.
Reviews
“We were terrified of a kitchen remodel — every friend had a nightmare story. Cornerstone gave us a fixed price up front, one lead carpenter we saw every day, and a weekly schedule. They opened a load-bearing wall and it still finished on time. It’s the room the whole family lives in now.”
“The design process is what sold us — Sara turned our vague ideas into real drawings and a budget that didn’t move. Our primary bath is genuinely a spa now, and the waterproofing and ventilation they kept talking about mean it still looks brand new. Worth every dollar.”
“They added a primary suite onto our house and you honestly cannot tell where the old house stops. Same brick, same rooflines, seamless. One team from the first sketch to the final walkthrough, and they came back to fix a settling crack a year later without a fuss. We’d hire them again tomorrow.”
